The boys have an amazing grasp of the English language and it is fun to teach them even more words. Weeno really likes words, from any language, and is always trying to expand the vocabulary of his parents. Tonda’s liberal use of slang seems to be catching up with her.
Last night we went to the Pow Wow up at MSU to give Tonda a break from cooking and get some more culture into our life. The boys were put into an American studies class at the shelter, once their adoption was approved, so they went into the night somewhat aware of Native Americans. They seemed to enjoy the music the most, this should not be a surprise to us at this point. We left to get some groceries across the street before going home. As we headed home from grocery shopping one of the boys asked “Is the Wow Pow done?” Lets just say the moment added some comic relief to the night.
Earlier in the day we decided to try out the kites that the boys got as welcoming home gifts. The kites were rated for wind speads of up to 18 mph and with wind gusts of over 30 mph the men in the house still thought it was a good idea to fly kites anyway. We did end up having a family adventure as we watched Brent and Melrod chase down a run away kite. They were trying to real in kites amidst high winds and then rain. After Tonda pushed her bike home because the head winds were so strong, she said no more flight kying for the day.

Not sure where the slang originated in our family, but I have been told that I use a lot of slag as well. Just wait until I get a hold of the boys. I will get them all tuned up with some slang that will make Tonda look like a saint.
